Year 2000 Readiness Disclosure

Microfloc Trident and Trimite

The normal Programmable Logic Controller used in the Microfloc Trident. and Trimite. control systems is the PLC/Direct model D3-330 or DL-340 CPU (or the DL-330 CPU's predecessor unit the GE-Fanuc Series One and Series One Plus). These CPU's do not have a built-in date or time function. As programmed by USFilter, these PLC programs did not have any date or clock time functions in the program. As there are no date or clock functions used in the programs, the standard Trident. and Trimite. control systems will not have any Year 2000 issues.

The Programmable Logic Controller used in the Aquaritrol(r) II and Aquaritrol(r) III utilize are the same as the units mentioned above. Again, they have no date or clock time function, either built-in or programmed, and will not have any Year 2000 problem.

Certain Trident. and Trimite. systems did utilize PLC's from other manufacturers as the basis of their control systems. Please directly inquire via the website about the Year 2000 status of those control systems.

Johnson Intake Screen Hydro Burst

The normal Programmable Logic Controller used in the Hydro Burst system on the Johnson Intake Screens uses the PLC/Direct model D2-240 CPU.

Per testing by the manufacturer, this PLC handles the year using a 2 digit format that correctly rolls over to "00" in the year 2000 and properly handles the year 2000 as a leap year. As programmed by USFilter, the PLC program did not use the year or the date in the program. The program did make use of the clock time, and will function correctly in the year 2000 and beyond. The operator interface provided with the D2-240 PLC is the PLC/Direct DV-1000 unit, which has no clock or calendar functions and will not be affected.

Microfloc Aquarius(r) and Waterboy(r)

The normal controls for Microfloc Aquarius and Waterboy package water treatment plants use only relay logic controls and have no Year 2000 issues.

Certain newer (and more complex) installations do have Programmable Logic Controllers for their control systems, and should make further inquiry as to their specific Year 2000 compatibility.

I wish I could share your enthusiasm with this report.

Unfortunately ,I know a great deal about U.S.Filter. They have been buying up other companies and slapping their name on the trucks. The specific busineses I'm referring to is waste oil (remediation) you did know that oil you change every 3000 has to go somewhere?. I know the owner of one they purchased here in Va. which has mucho refractoring processing that U.S. filter did not touch. Something else you did not mention. U.S. Filter is Huuuuuge and multinational, just about in every country in the world. Guess that doesnt mean much. At least they know how to clean water!!

hmmm...? What does this mean?

Does anyone know if Sen. Bennett's story about the water treatment plant in Utah (rolling its clocks to 2000 & dumping toxic amounts of chlorine/flouride)was verified or disproved? I'd appreciate a link if you have one. Thanks.

Well that's all well and good, as long as any ONE, of the millions of systems in our systemic world, doesn't keep the folks at USFilter at home for an extended period of time. In which case any one of the thousands of subsets of faulty systems, which WILL cause the replacement of filters to become necessary, but not available because...

Regardless of whether the problem is with embedded systems, with software or with something else, the following cities told the GAO during its June 28th to July 9th survey that their Water/Wastewater Treatment services were not Y2K ready...
