Loose ends: summary of knowledge being sought -- generator and baterry manufacture, canning lids, and etc.greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Preparation Forum : One Thread |
As readers of this and other forums may have guessed from my continual collection and publication of material (e.g. my printable flyers, preparedness nuggets, Better Times Webzine, and etc.), I am hoping that the wide dissemination of knowledge previously available typically only to specialists, but nevertheless accessible by amateurs, will be an important aspect of post-Y2k recovery, especially if the pessimistic viewpoint turns out to be correct. Here are some areas that I am still looking for information about:
1. Generator manufacturing. It surely seems possible to me that a generator could be manufactured in a well equipped backyard shop by a community or group of people determined to do so. Any ideas about this? (More than, eg. the lawnmower/alternator combination.)
2. Ditto question for manufacturing batteries.
3. Ditto question for canning lids. Mason jars will last a long time.

The improvised munitions handbook has info on making batterys(among other things). I think you can get a copy from Frugal Squirrels place. While there you might want to get a copy of the incendiaries manual. Don't flame me please, this stuff is important to know.
