The bulb currently sold by MPL is a 6V3A in the yellow and green Autolicht box. All measurements are the same as the 6V6A lamp described by Martin Tai.

The yellow green 'Autolicht' bulb is old package, as 6v car tail light vanished long time ago.Dr. Fischer 6V3A bulb and 6V6A bulb with 10mm offset, all works well with Minox enlarger.

Fischer Lamp vs Other Lamps
The following picture shows clearly the differences between Fischer 6V6A bulb and other replacement bulbs, for example, GE 1133 6.2 V 3.9A bulb.
- GE 1133 bulb filament is off focus by 10mm
- GE 1133 is off axis by 5 mm
- GE 1133 filament is perpendicular to bayonet keys, while Fischer one is parallel.

Life of Dr. Fischer Lamp ?
The life of Dr. Fischer 6v6a lamp for Minox enlarger is extimated to be about 100 hours, base on similar Fischer projector lamp of similar wattage:
A Fischer lamp if used with care ( ie, turn off the enlarger lamp when not exposing on photographic paper ) can last a long time
One print takes about 5 to 10 secs. Conservatively, let us say 20 sec, then an 100 hour Dr. Fischer bulb may last 100 x 60 x 3 = 18,000 prints !
The estimated 18,000 to 20,000 prints per Fischer lamp is based on using the lamp at full power. Minox enlarger has a HI-LOW switch. For enlargements under 4x6" it is best to use low power setting. Under low light, a Fischer lamp may last twice as long: 40,000 3.5x 5" prints or four hundred boxes of 3.5x5" paper I still use the same lamp which came with the used Minox enlarger II; and it is quite possible that this lamp was with the original owner since day one.
But if you left the enlarger lamp on for days, then it can burn't out in a couple of days.
Since Dr. Fischer bulb is hard to find, buy one more spare as backup, you will be safe for a long time.

6v6A OR 6V3A, which was the original ?
According to Emanual: Minox Guide, the original lamp came with Minox enlarger was 6V6A lamp, with 'transverse" filament pointing downward. Emanual's Minox Guide is the only Minox book I have seen which provided a drawing the lamp used in Minox enlarger ( with transverse filament ) Keisermeir :Small Minox Big Picture also mentioned Minox enlarger used 6v6A lamp, but no picture or drawing of lamp

I just picked up #1129 6.4V bulbs at the local pep-boys. They are made by Sylvania and 2 cost about $3. The filament is not offset, and it is perpendicular to the bayonet pins but is approximately the same depth as that of the Fischer bulb. I tested these bulbs and have determined their output to be about 24 watts or about 4 amps. These work acceptably in the Model III enlarger I have as a substitute for the Fischer bulb if none is available and is just as bright as the 6V 3A bulb from MPL. I am really not sure about the need for the offset filament...I saw a photo of a bulb in one of my old instruction manuals, one of the original model II manuals which called for a 6V 5A bulb which didn't seem to have the offset filament, so who knows how critical this is? Like I said, the sylvania bulb is an acceptable substitute in my opinion if no OEM Fischer bulbs can be found...would anyone else like to test one and tell me their feelings? If we could find a bulb like the 1129 with the filament turned 90 degrees I think it would be better.

Martin Doctor I have a detail analysis of the Minox Enlarger Illumination Systemin which I compare the illumation intensity and eveness of Dr. Fischer 6v6a lamp vs Sylvania 1129 6.4 V 2.63 A and GE 1133 lamp.
Minox enlarger is a point source light enlarger, the filament must be as close to a point as possible, and must form an image inside the enlarger lens-- that is a precondition for even distribution of illumination; and this requires the filament is possitioned right on the focal point of the collimator.
My test of Sylvania 1129 and GE 1133 vs Fischer 6v6a indeed shows that Fischer bulb provdes even illumination, the replacement lamp does not.
I have a box of Sylvania 1129 (ten in a box ) and a box of GE 1133.
I have only one Dr. Fischer 6v5a lamp, I did not test it

Have Model III, make following observation in attempt to minimise impact of vanishing globes on Minoxers. Chasing the Fischer bulb seems an expensive way to achieve what is essentially a simple matter of placing the collimator lens in a proper relationship to the bulb. Put another way, forget the bulb and mount the collimator lens 10mm closer to the non Fischer lamp using a simple 10mm high tube. Such tube can be made to lock onto the existing collimator support with minor or no alteration. A disc placed on top of the tube can provide an identical collimator lens mounting to the existing plate. REMEMBER, if you do this, DO NOT TO FIT the Fischer bulb when using the 'tube' else it will likely hit the collimator lens or the element will be so close as to possibly cause it to crack from heat. Bulbs need not cost USD50 ever again, that I note is what some hopeful is putting as the first bid price on ebay. Done neatly the enlarger need not stray from its original condition. It would have been nice if the collimator plate could simply have been inverted - that would have moved the lens 10mm toward the lamp. But the internal lamp shield wont allow this - it would have been so neat.
