$0.00. I go over to the neighbors pump and fill up after they go to bed. It does cost me a couple of table scraps to keep their dog quiet. So, I guess I'd have to say one steak bone for 2 pork chop bones per 12 - 16 gallons.
-- hosed (gasbag@pump.com), August 17, 1999.
Price of gas is high because they don't want people to stock pile!

Central Jersey shore cheapest Regular - $1.11, up from $1.07 just a few weeks ago. On the Parkway - $1.19 Up north a ways - $1.17, up from $1.13 just a few weeks ago. Before the summer started, gas could be had for .99c...sometimes they jack up the price for the tourists, but I don't think that's the case at the moment.
-- kritter (kritter@adelphia.net), August 17, 1999.
It's $1.15 in Houston.Look, it's still a hell of a lot cheaper per gallon than milk, and you don't have to drill through 15,000 feet of solid cow to get milk.

Ya know, not to get off topic here, but below is a satellite picture of the huge Exxon refinery in Linden, NJ. http://terraserver.microsoft.com is a pretty cool site. Go ahead, zoom in. The actual refinery is north-east of the tank farm. This is a huge machine, where city blocks consist of pipe-lines, pumps, "cracking towers"? and whatever else it takes to make fuel from crude oil.How many "embedded systems" do you think exist here? It has been said that it's easier to build a new refinery, than it is to find, test, and fix all the embedded systems that are in operation today at a refinery. This place really is one huge machine. Do you think it will function post 00?
Anybody see any new refineries going up?
Who is going to pay for all of this Y2K work?

$1.08 - $1.14 for the cheap stuff in the DFW area of Texas. It doesn't matter what the cost of gas is/will be, I always have, and always will save all my errands to the other side of town for one trip to save money on gas.Dennis: It won't necessarily matter whether there IS a gas shortage, or whether there's public PERCEPTION of a gas shortage. The oil companies will raise their prices based on EITHER.
