Anyone with an IGA grocery nearby, go right now and get these things!greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) Preparation Forum : One Thread |
I don't know if they all have the same sales - hope so - but I stopped in mine today and found IGA's brand pinto beans, 1 lb. sacks, and boxed macaroni & cheese dinners for 25" - no limits. They also had Chicken of the Sea waterpack tuna for 25" a can - limit 2. Piles of it. Send everybody in the family in separately with 50".Sure hope this isn't just local.

Thanks for the heads up, I will check it out. Another tip: I live in Washington State, I visited the local Safeway and was talking to the box person when he took my groceries out. I asked when the next canned goods sale would be and he says in Oct. a big one. Meaning, corn, green beans, beets, and more = 4 for 88 cents! Ask your local market box people, they seem to know about upcoming sales and are willing to share the info.

The boxes of macaroni and cheese were on sale here yesterday for 75 cents each, but they are date stamped for Sept. 99--uh, that doesn't work. I did buy some canned pears in their natural juice 3 for $2. I can't bring myself to buy anything in sugary syrup.

Just got the flyer out of the mailbox. Mostly same ol', vegies 3 cans/$1, Ramen noodles 10/$1, Mac and cheese 5/$2, But then I saw IT. Louisiana hot sauce 3 for a dollar!! Now, we're talkin' real food!Ole Lon, down on the bayou
(I buy most of my canned goods from a surplus/salvage grocery. If you don't know where one is, check with the state health dept, they usually license them)

Safeway has a sale going on now [at least here in Southern Oregon] ... veggies are 6 for 96 cents!!! But, you need that Safeway card. Limit 6 per visit. So, go and pack up your trunk .... and go back in for another 6 cans .... at another check-out counter, of course.
