Converting quicktime to MPEG?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread |
I'd like to burn some Quicktime movies onto a VCD. Is there any software out there that will allow me to convert them to MPEG?

XingMPEG Encoder will do it (www.xingtech.com). Unfortunatly the demoversion only encode 30 sec.

Xing Mpeg Encoder does NOT support quicktime format! Only windows media format...

Xing MPEG encoder sucks. First off, it requires quicktime version 3 and only 3 to be installed on your computer. Secondly, it will not support the conversion of .mov files created with anything other than version 3. Thirdly, I find that it crashes a LOT when trying to convert. Unfortunately, I haven't found anything else, at least not for windows.

go to www.tmpgenc.comthere you can get TMPGEnc a utility that converts from quicktime format to mpeg. it doesnt suck as badly as most utilities for this purpose.

i think you need a quicktime plugin for tmpeg.Tmpeg is the best. I've converted QT to mpeg before - so it is possible.

Yes, WinMPG will convert avi to mpeg, avi to mpeg2, avi to dvd, avi to vcd, all to divx and all to avi.The demo will not work as you want it to, you need to buy the whole program.

Hey, I've been using Sound Forge 7, not a bad program, I tested a quicktime .mov to a .mpeg and it wasn't that bad actually, the size was slightly greater because I increased the "quality" ratings just to make sure I got the same vid in quality, and it was really cool!Check it out, it might help, even though the program might be out of your budget, test it!
