railroad charter from 1836 for Atlantic Coast Line (VA)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACL and SAL Railroads Historical Society : One Thread

I am looking for a copy of the 1836 railroad charter for the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad Company of Virginia. At that time I believe the line was called the Richmond & Petersburg Railroad. If anyone has any information or knows of anyone who might please let me know. thank you for your help.

You might also try the Petersburg and Roanoke Railroad. This road made a connection in Weldon with the Wilmington and Weldon Railroad. Both considered cores of the ACL.

State Library of Virginia does not list the charter. Try WWW.LVA.LIB.VA.US http//image.vtls.com/BPW/indexes/138-150.htn for some listings.

number: 145

CSX now owns what remains and may have the charter.
