have you stuck with your tae-bo?greenspun.com : LUSENET : Squishy : One Thread |
I haven't seen many postings lately on the Tae-Bo boards. I know Andy still does his. I do mine. How about you?I think that Kymm did it once and that was it.
Are you guys getting bored with it? Have you found a way to work it into your exercise routine?

I'm still a Tae Boer, this is probably the longest I've ever stayed with an exercise program (since November). I recently signed up for the Live series, and that has really helped me to stay interested.Basic Live 2 is kicking my ass all over the place...even more than the Advanced I think. My husband came down to the basement the first time I did it to find out what all of the screaming was about.

I pestered Husband until he agreed I should buy the tae bo. His objection to my buying it had been that it would be a huge waste of money because I'd do it for a little while and then quit. "No I won't!" I exclaimed. "All the journalers are doing it and they all LOVE it. It's the best thing to ever, EVER happen to exercise. I have to do it. I HAVE TO. " I told him I would be much more likely to stick with it if he would be supportive instead of negative, and finally he said FINE, I don't care, just get it.And I did! I got it! I liked it! I did it two whole days! That was 2 or 3 months ago and I haven't done it since. I want to do it, and I say I'm going to do it -- tomorrow. I swear. But I don't.
And to Husband's credit, he has never ever not even once said I told you so, even though he has every right to. I don't deserve him.

I have slacked recently but plan to get back on the horse and thus back on the road to being a conquerer. I am not ready for the Advanced Live tapes, but Billy ocaissionally comes to me in my dreams and smacks me around for not doing the tapes enough lately...don't let him get me...Here's an idea for the Monks - I think you should do a sketch based on the Blair Witch Project but call it the Billy Blanks Project. You could all be running around in the woods doing Tae Bo and looking at the camera acting all scared that Billy is going to leap out and eat you. Starring Pamie, Eric, Andy and the tank top guy from the Basic Tape. You'd all be in your tent, after your first workout, and you'd hear Billy's disembodied voice in the darkness and everybody would FREAK and start crying and then it would be like:
BILLY: (spooky voice offstage) Woooo....I am going to kill you.... EVERYBODY: (screaming, crying, whirling around with the flashlights) PAMIE: (after about two minutes) Wait...what did he say? ERIC: He said "I am going to kill you," right? ANDY: I sort of thought he said "Do you smell that mildew?" PAMIE: yeah, what's up with the mumbling? I thought it was "I am going to kick you," and I was thinking roundhouse or back kick? TANK TOP GUY: Yes, the producers have to talk to Billy about this all the time. Nobody understands him. It sounded to me like he said "I will cock-a-doodle-doo..." (At this point, Billy unzips the tent and steps in wearing a silver spandex nipple outfit with a cod-piece and a witch's hat) Billy: Listen bitches, I am sick of this shit...I SAID "I am going to kill you!" (camera starts spinning and jerking and Billy kills everyone with one uppercut and a doubletime side kick) THE END

I have to confess that I probably won't stick with it, so I don't know why I bought the tapes. The only exercise routines I can stick to are ones I can do while watching TV or reading. That's why I hate my health rider -- it's too noisy to hear the TV, and you can't read a book.Exercise videos get really old for me after a while. What I used to do in the past was just memorize them and then watch TV instead of the tape, but I'm not sure that's going to happen with Tae-bo.

I'm doing Advanced every other day now. Between those days I use "ol' faithful" -- Abs and Chest of Steel. I feel kinda lame doing tapes but I'm too poor to get a weight set or join a gym.Anyway, I have kept with Tae Bo for a long while now. Advanced definitely began to show on my body. I'll stick with this for a while because I can't afford Live yet.
Pamie, can't believe you chose New Orleans over Billy. Billy comes to your town ONCE IN A LIFETIME!! New Orleans will ALWAYS be there. If anyone hears of Billy coming to DC , please give me the heads up.

(duck/hide) I've been slacking. I started it in March or April, and I was doing really good with it. Then I came home from school and started working, and the weather got really hot and yucky...and I just didn't have any time! Really! (I'm making awful excuses, I know...)I do miss it, but now I can't go back to it yet, because I hurt my knee roller blading. I have to go physical therapy (blah). But after I'm all healed and back to school, I'm sure my roomie and I will get back into it! :-)
(did I mention that my middle name is 'procrastination'..??)

I think I'll share this with Billy as a testament of my devotion:My roommate Cody and I have been doin' the Bo for a few months now, much to the chagrin of our other roommate, who complains about us moving the furniture around and cutting in to his TV time. This week, he approached me and said in a rather serious tone, "You guys are going to have to get a new VCR." He then explained to me that he had bought his "top of the line" VCR to watch films, not for us to do Tae-Bo and that we were going to wear it out. Had he known we would stick with it as long as we have, he would have bought a less expensive model. I just laughed at him and agreed to that we would move Cody's VCR in the living room when we have our time with Billy.
Of course I think this is a little ridiculous and he's just pissed because we've actually stuck with it and are becoming such conquerors. Of course, next time he wants to watch some crappy sports event no one else cares about, I'll tell him I didn't buy my middle of the line floor model TV to wear it out on the Argentina vs Zimbabwe curling championships.

Wow! I can't believe this! I've been really slacking off on the Tae Bo, and feeling terribly guilty about it. I have the tapes sitting on top of the TV set (to inspire me) but the guilt motivator hasn't seemed to be working. The other day I get a call from...Tae Bo! I'm serious. "Just calling to see how your workout is going." I guess they got my number when I ordered it ove the phone, but still it was eerie. And rather cool. I'd always suspected Billy had secret mind-reading powers ("Are YOU ready?"), but now I know for sure. I am back on the program.
