Im using Graphedt.exe to convert .asf to .avi. Works fine but,greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread |
The audio and video streams are out of sync. As the .avi plays it gets worse and worse. Any ideas?

I did the method of asf to avi you did. I noticed that when viewing my avi's made from asf's, the video stops after about 4 or 5 seconds but the audio keeps going. Why is this?

Where did you get the program graphedt.exe? Also, do you know of any other programs that can convert asf to mpg?

I use it to convert asf files to avi for later conversions (with TMPGEnc to mpeg). I was shown that if you extract the audio to a wav file, and then convert the asf to something else using the wav file as a separate audio source, the sync is fine. Also, if you just do a short 5 or 6 second clip to test, the video is going to stop before the audio because the audio is processed faster than the video. Your output file just has more audio data than video data at that point.

I tryed asftools, also boilsoft asfconvert and still with virtualdub1.3c I see there is too mucho little understander that likes to show as he/she controls perfectly averything. Have to say that there are a number of flavours of asf, that probably can't be converted to avi by noway. Specially formats created with cameras recording mpeg4. That's because M$ offered to the manufacturers some advantages using its propietary codecs, so the buyers were married with M$ without specific knowledge. If this sounds poor, still have to know tnat M$ has patented asf formar, so is illegal disassemble any file for any purpose. Ypu can find all this info simple searching at google. Sorry, I'm afraid I did not serve as much help.
