Features and compatability between various cameras/lensesgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread |
Does anyone know if there exists anywhere on this site(or the internet) a chart that categorizes the various cameras, lenses, and the compatability between the two as far as mounts?(Actually a charted list of their respective features would be nice also). It is such a pain to have to go on a hunting spree when one wants information on a particular peice of equipment for comparison reasons. So when I come across an intersting lens(new or used), It would be nice if I had a quick way of finding out what cameras it fits. Whether it is a gem for the money. A piece of junk relative to it's cost. Or whether it has a history of optical or mechanical problems. Does anyone have advice? Thanks a lot. Darren.

Unfortunately, Darren, there isn't such a convenient, all-encompassing website, at least not that I'm aware of. If you're looking for Nikon equipment, this is a comprehensive site to begin with: Nikon Links

Aside from K and screw mount cameras, the information is brand specific because there is no real compatibility between brands.

Darren,
I read from your other question that you use a Canon FTb... With that camera, you can use all Canon "FL" and "FD" lenses and any 3rd party lens with a compatible (FD or FL) mount. You cannot use the newer Canon "EF" (autofocus mount) lenses.-Dave

Thanks a lot. I'm already aware of the compatability issue between the cameras of various manufacturers. And that the Canon FTb-N only takes certain lenses. I'm just looking for a way to compare/find all the lenses for this camera. Perhaps Mr. Greenspun will consider a camera/lens/flash,ect. thread for easy reference as far as features of various equipment.(And updated when new equipment comes out). Not a pro vs. con discussion. But an extensive chart. Darren.P.S; A glossary would be nice too.(I finally found out what "TTL" means, after a week(about 50 hours) on this site). Actually, I found the definition at hyperzine.
