New Canadian Images

I don't profess to be a great photographer. I'm even worse at web design, but if you get a change I have a site with some down and dirty information. Please check it out and comment. Please only post 'constructive comments'

Thanks in advance

Hi John.

I think you're too hard on yourself! Your website's simplicity makes it easy to navigate and quick to load. I also like your B&W photos- they're better than most amateur B&W photographs I've seen. You have a definite sense of good composition- something that is tremendously undervalued by some B&W photographers. No amount of burning/dodging can compensate for a poorly composed image.

Nice work.

Nice images. I really like the IF print of the girl in the boat, really surrealistic image!! I'm just learning to handle IF film my self. Keep up the good work.

Hi John,

I am a photographer from Toronto, Ontario. While my specialization is in people/life photography, especially in performing arts and sports, I am also very fond of the great outdoor. Indeed, whenever I am not doing people photography, I would be doing scenic and macro photography.

I am very impressed with your colour work. Not only is the composition well thought out, the images also show good understanding of colour scheme and texture.

I am, however, not as impressed with the black and white works. They definitely show an effort in experimenting with perspectives as well as film characteristics. Though, I find the images either too flat or too contrasy. Also, because of the poor printing, the messages you are trying to convey through the photos do not come through clearly. Then again, it may simply be a problem with the scanning.

All in all, I have to agree with the other responses that your work is certainly better than most amateurs and some "professionals".

David
