I was wondering if anyone was familiar with thiocarbamide (thoiurea) toning. I'm not even sure if this is the correct chemical but I believe it gives a blue-green tone. I can't seem to verify my information.

Thiocarbimide toning gives cool purple-brown, dark brown, sepia, to yellow toning depending upon the paper, paper developer, bleach formula (amount of bromide), and mixture of toner part "A" (thiourea) and toner part "B" (sodium hydroxide).

Photographer's Formulary sells it. (www.montana.com/formulary/dnloadcat.html) Here's their description: "Formulary Thiourea Toner will give beautiful rich brown sepia-like tones. The print is first bleached using a ferricyanide-bromide bath then redeveloping in a sulfide bath. In this process, the silver metal in the print is first converted to silver bromide, then to brown silver sulfide. The end result will give the impression of a print made in the late 1800's." The price is $13.50 to make a one liter working solution. Cat. No. 06-0045 Hope this helps, let us know!Walter
