Do you care what goes on your partner's bum? Or are you too busy fumbling in the dark to notice? Do you like someone half-dressed or buck naked? Is there a pair of skivvies that you covet?
-- Anonymous, April 06, 1999
I think I definitely notice and definitely have preferences, but to be honest, I don't always let my lady know what I think. I'll tell you what I don't like -- those really shiny cyan satin panties that would make my girlfriend look like a pro wrestler. Ewww. I had a girlfriend who refused to wear lace panties or anything with a thong cut because they were uncomfortable (well, she never actually tried them -- she just ASSUMED they were uncomfortable). Here's the flip side, though -- what do you women think about us men's drawers? I switched from briefs to boxers a few years ago on a girlfriend's suggestion (actually it was a militant demand), but I still have a stack of the old "tighty whities" in case all my boxers run out. Every now and then, in a laundry emergency, I have to wear them, but I always fear that I'll look stupid in them given the opportunity to get nekkid. I guess I've been stigmatized -- Fruit of the Looms are not considered very chic anymore, if they ever were.

okay, except that the word "panties" sounds like nails on a blackboard to me. i hate that word. but i love undies as much as any silly girl. i always try and wear nice underwear, not just for me or whomever may see them that night, but i've always had this fear that one day, i'm going to get hit by a bus or something and i'll be on my way to the hospital and they're doing all that stuff they do and in the process of saving my life look and i'm wearing underwear that's ugly or has a hole in it or something and even though i'd be near death unconcious etc. etc., i'd still be embarassed. my favorite, if i had to pick, would be either my black satin from victoria's secret (nothing special mind you, it does cover my whole fat ass) or the pair of bright neon green ones i got a K-Mart for 99 cents. woo hoo.

boxers v. briefsWell, honestly, I've got to go with boxers here. Briefs look like you're still getting up Saturday mornings to watch Bugs Bunny, spilling cereal all around the house. While wearing briefs this is annoying. If you are wearing boxers, it's sort of charming and sexy and so "he's-still-got-that-little-boy-in-him."
We don't still wear the same kind of underwear we wore when we were little girls... the huge flowered ones (or with the care bears) that came all the way up to our belly buttons.
-- Anonymous, April 06, 1999
See, I like briefs on men because I think it makes them look like adult men. I always associate boxers with some teenage or college phase.I was about to get all depressed that I've never had a boyfriend tell me I'm wearing his favorite pair of my panties...then I rememebred that I exclusively wear black bikinis. I guess they all look the same. Sigh.
-- Anonymous, April 06, 1999
Okay, Pamie, you reminded me of a pantie preference -- I really REALLY don't like it when women wear panties with little flowers on them or little cute things like that. It makes me feel like Jeremy Irons -- total pedophile vibe. Sorry... just not down wit dat. What about those weird boxer/brief hybrids where they're shaped like boxers, but they have this little circular "package protusion protector" that looks almost exactly like a cotton nutsack? What about those?o.
-- Anonymous, April 06, 1999
Yes, I do care what is on my partner's bum. I prefer my hands.Fumbling in the dark is not a problem since I like the lights on low and so does she. The visual aspect is definitely part of the fun, why turn out the lights?
I pretty much prefer buck naked, although footwear, garters, and lacy bras can be interesting...
-- Anonymous, April 06, 1999
my current sweetie wears boxers, and that's ok with me. On myself, I like sheerwear undies from Lane bryant, and I like them to match. garter belts and stockings are good too, especially if I'm swing dancing -- the skirts swirl up and everyone gets a thrill, so opaque panties on those occasions.Anita of Anita's Book of Days
-- Anonymous, April 07, 1999
I tried lacy panties for my first boyfriend - at his request, even! He told me which ones he liked and which ones he didn't, but every single pair was so uncomfortable! I gave up; I now wear cotton undies that *do* cover my belly button (but they're high-cut in the hips and don't have any obnoxious little flowers on them)I've always thought boxers looked sexier than briefs on guys - but I've been told that the sensation of letting one's family jewels swing in the breeze, so to speak, is sortof hard to get used to.
Even sexier than underwear, though, is a guy wearing jeans but no shirt. Yow!
-- Anonymous, April 07, 1999
Yah! I'd have to agree with that comment...I think my boyfriend looks so mona in jeans with no shirt on.As for boxers vs. briefs? I have to say that I think boxers are MUCH sexier on a guy then briefs...I think because boxers still give you room to imagine what's underneath, where as briefs..everything is just ...there!
And as for MY preference for myself...I tend to aim for satin undies, or I have an extreme like for plaid :) I'd love to shop at VS or Fredericks for the upper-half, but those stores seem to cater too much to the little-boobed people of the world, and if they do have something that fits me, it has padding!! I have my OWN padding....I don't need theirs ya know?! :)
And...what's up with that water-bra?! Have you seen that thing?!
-- Anonymous, April 07, 1999
No, what's a water bra?I know that I went into Victoria's Secret the other day and they had this sign up for their new Body Collection "Will Fit Every Size." These were barely-there lycra type bras that had no underwire and were supposed to be like you weren't wearing anything at all.... picture wrapping an ace bandage around your chest...
In any event, I challenged their statement, and I won. No support in the bra department, and since it only came in S, M or L, it didn't fit me in the back or it didn't fit me in the front.
Don't go making claims, Vicki, when you know the big-busted gal is trying to wear your shit. I'm tired of getting disappointed.
-- Anonymous, April 07, 1999
The Water bra is something that Frederick's carries now...it's for smaller boobed people who want to look like that have naturally bigger boobs...instead of cotton padding, it has water in it...(actually...it feels sorta like the silicon in a padded bike seat...but the actual label says "Water Bra") It's the most frightening thing I think i have ever seen! My concern would be what if it popped or something?!
-- Anonymous, April 07, 1999
Hehe, panties...how FUN!My boyfriend LOVES my t-back undies, any fabric or print. T-backs are kind of like g-stings, but not so..big. The don't curve around your waist and buttocks and end up with this huge wad of panty stuffed in your buttcrack. Imagine a T. See, straight across at the waist, and then a tiny sliver of cloth straight down. My honey really digs those. If I have them on (and I do make a point to wear them as much as possible), he can't keep his hands off of me. He sees me running around with my little bum haniging out, and he says "come here hooooooney", and then he just wants to pet my buns all night.
As far as Boxers vs Briefs...has no one ever seen the tight boxer thingies? Those are the sexiest undies ever! They're long like boxers, but tight like briefs. Oh my, they do make a man look delicious! Any man in a pair of those babies will look like a fantasy. They make buns look tight, they cup the package perfectly, and they make thighs look so muscular and hot. grrr! If I can't get my man to wear those, then it's boxers over briefs any day.
-- Anonymous, April 08, 1999
Those are the ones I was talking about -- the ones that cup you like a prison guard.
I think it's pretty hazardous (especially for those men out there with weak egos. I mean, not me. That other guy over there. The one holding his package. THAT guy. Over THERE. Certainly not me.) to say that ANY guy looks good in those. I mean, have you seen Dennis Franz's ass? Honestly? I like Dennis -- he's a great actor and does fine work, but please don't give him that kind of false hope.
As for me, I'll stick to boxers under they make those brief-boxer hybrids a little less... comforting.
-- Anonymous, April 08, 1999
Ok, Omar, you semi-win. I should have said "any semi-normal man" would look good in those boxy-briefs. Dennis Franz isn't normal. The guy's a hobbit for cryin out loud!;o) But, I would bet that if you just zeroed in on his buns, and could somehow cut out the rest of his little troll body, I bet his rear would look pretty decent in those things. *Oh. My. God. I'm actually saying that about DENNIS FRANZ* Rick(y) Schroder would look pretty darn naughty in those though...mmm..And what's wrong with comfort? Just pretend it's a nice soft pair of ladies hands.
*if anyone cares, my journal is http://members.tripod.com/MellieBee. i'm not as cool as pamie, but i'm worth a try, right?*
-- Anonymous, April 08, 1999
i would have to totally totally totally agree to ricky shorder looking hot as hell in those boxer/briefs. well, he'd probably look good in anything, meerrrow!! anyway, i'd have to agree with the other comment about briefs making you think of sat. morning cartoons, i mean, grow up just a smidge, but other than that, its all good
-- Anonymous, April 09, 1999
I like wearing fun undies for me, although my boyfriends have appreciated some more than others. I like the "boy-cut" leg, but they have to be made just right or they're like hotpants that disappear up your ass. But I love the little-shorts look. I find thongs uncomfortable. I also hate underwear (or jeans) that go above my belly button. I also like to wear boys tightwhites, although that weirds some people out. but they're a million times more confortable than any women's underwear (women's underwear is a scam I tell ya). i think some boys look cute and little-boyish in tightwhites, I think boxers are baggy and college-boy-ish. I LOVE those Calvin-Klein boxer briefs. yummo. But I think men's bikini briefs are goofy-looking. balls-in-a- sling.
-- Anonymous, April 12, 1999
I have a term for thongs: Butt Floss
-- Anonymous, April 13, 1999
I have to confess to a serious fetish for plaid boxers. That's about it as far as men's underwear preferences go. (Actually, I wear them a lot myself, but just around the house.)My guy has very strong feelings about women's underwear, though. He hates beige or peach or anything that looks like someone's mother would wear it. He really, really, REALLY likes thongs, and I don't completely hate them, so I'll wear one now and then for him. Actually, he likes anything intensely slutty: lace or velvet bustiers, garter belts, itchy little see-through black net teddies -- I have quite a collection, and it all looks very nice sitting in my drawer.
Personally, I like the plain satin bikini underwear you can buy at Victoria's Secret at 4/$20. I wear those most of the time, but try to compromise by not wearing them in beige. If it keeps him out of tight whites, that's okay by me.
-- Anonymous, April 13, 1999
I used to really like flannel plaid boxers, both to watch and wear... but now it's just too darn hot.I'm not a big fan of the paisley. How come the paisley ones always get so faded? I've never seen a pair that weren't all faded.
Maybe the paisleys are the "lucky shorts."
-- Anonymous, April 13, 1999
I assure you, flannel gets mighty warm in this Texas weather. Silk boxers, on the other hand, are perfect for those hot days. Take any man who's been wearing briefs and make him wear boxers for a week, and he'll never go back. All the naughty bits are so much more comfortable.
-- Anonymous, April 13, 1999
So regarding boxers. Got my SO some boxers. He's never worn them before, and the question is now, did I just get boxers that are way to cheap, or is it just normal to fall out the front of them? Do I need to go find button-fly boxers or what?
-- Anonymous, April 13, 1999
1. I definitely DEFINITELY prefer boxers. The idea of a man in tighty whiteys --- ICK! For one, they aren't always *tight* -- men will wear them until they, well, SAG. Which is just gross. 2. Those tight boxers are SO SEXY!! I've been trying to get the Boy to wear them. ;) 3. My Boy tells me that once you've been wearing boxers or briefs for a long enough time, it's hard to switch -- the sensation is...disturbing. He deliberately switched from briefs to boxers at some point in high school and told me that it took a few weeks for him to grow accustomed to it. 4. I hate underwear or jeans that come past my belly button too. I wear predominantly V.S. stretch lace bikinis in black (ivory for those light colored pants days). They don't get stretched like cotton undies can, and they're generally invisible under clothes. The Boy likes it best when I wear no undies at all. Although I know he did develop his initial crush on me way back when partly because he saw me wearing boxers peeking out from the waistband of my jeans (they were biggish jeans, it was a while ago). There are my underwear tales.

ON MEN: Tighty whities make me think of my dad. Ick! Ew! Utterly unsexy! Major turn-off. So, yes, I like boxers, and boxer-briefs are even better (but a guy could have some of each and wear the boxer- briefs on more special occasions).ON WOMEN: (I'm bi, you see) To me, the most important thing is the shape underneath, rather than the underwear itself. Don't get me wrong, I like seeing a woman's body underneath lingerie, but I'm not really so particular about what kind. But I'm kind of a sucker for lace, both white and black.
ON ME: I wear men's boxers about half the time, and women's undies the other half. I wear boxers when my outfit will permit it (baggy enough pants, or a long skirt with trouser socks), and undies otherwise. I love the comfort and breeziness of boxers. As far as undies go, I have a kind of unusual body type for a woman, I guess. It's hard to find ones that fit right. I like them to sit really low, down on my hips, and come all the way down the butt (not riding up). For everyday wear, the best-fitting ones I found are Jockey for Her size 5 bikini style. But I want pretty, frilly, sexy ones, too, and it's hard to find ones that fit. They always are too high-cut, and that is super unflattering to me (I'm short, which is probably part of it).
I'll leave you with a quote from my boyfriend... something he said on our first date:
"Sometimes you want something simple, like a slip, and other times you want to undo a hundred buckles."

First of all, the name 'hardcore' comes from my proffessional wrestling moniker, not from hardcore porn or anything of that ilk. Anyhow, I believe texture is of the utmost importance. I love the feel of white cotton panties that are fresh out of the dryer. It's kind of like the antithesis of snow and/or winter. I don't know why I think of it that way, but when I'm folding my girlfriend's laundry, it instills in me a sense of renewed youth and vitality. I mean, I'm only twenty-three, so youth and vigour are hardly things of the past as far as someone my age is concerned; yet the fact that something as trivial as a pair of underwear impress upon me feelings of comfort and self-confidence is certainly impressive. A woman in loose flannel pajamas is as sexy to touch as a woman all aglow is to look at. A lot of men say that wearing silk boxers cause them to have erections all day. I'll tell you what, if Hanes ever make a male undergarment out of the same material as they make those country-fresh white cottonny soft panties with the little pastel-blue flowers all over them - well - I don't think I would wear them and be a productive member of society. So, uh, yeah. By the way I really liked the Slam the Grammys article. It rocks.

I will say that tighty whities remind me of my dad too.. when I would have a nightmare and he'd come running out of my parent's bedroom when I yelled for him. Definately prefer boxers, or those weird combo boxer/brief thingers. I also agree that they make almost any guy look good. I dug the two (or so) pairs of those weird tight boxer/brief things that my boyfriend had, and now he's all about finding them in cute fabrics and such.As for me, I too enjoy the Jockey for Her bikinis.. I think they're bikinis, anyway. They have a string on the hipbone connecting the front panel with the back panel and that looks adorable (I'm told) sticking out of a pair of hip-hugging jeans.
Above the bellybutton anything makes my tummy look like a grandmother's. Definately a no-go.

it's so weird; i remember my first 'real' boyfriend - the first non-related male i got to see in his underwear - always wore briefs. in various shades. and for some reason that was fine and did it for me. then i moved on, and the next guy wore white briefs, except he always wore boxers (very plaid) over them around the house and then took theh boxers off, leaving the briefs, under jeans and such. it was a bit odd. i was always like, just convert! and he always complained that the boxers bunched in his jeans and drove him nuts... plus everything kind of hung around, which he didn't like either. and then the last guy i dated wore the boxer/brief combos. and i have to say... those are the BEST. can we say 'yummm'!?! oh man... i just... wow. those are so .... nice. yeah. whew. so now i'm definately into the combos. oh yeah. understatement. however, i have heard they strectch out really quickly. and i think the person who was saying they're too tight needs to go up a size. all the guys i've talked to said they're very comfortable...

Since no one else will seem to own up to this one, I sometimes prefer no skivvies at all when wearing jeans. Especially during those hot summer months. One time I tried this with kackies and let me tell you it poses a problem if you happen to see a girl that strikes your fancy ;-) On women I would have to go with anything sheer or lace
-- Anonymous, June 21, 1999
Jeff- I prefer my fianci with nothing at all on underneath. When he sits in different positions I can sneak looks his way and I get this sense of pride. There's nothing like it.For me, I love Calvin Klein black underwear. It's pretty simple, but I always feel sexy but still smart in it. Nothing kills the mood for me more than feeling like I look ridiculous (evil WonderBra).
-- Anonymous, July 06, 1999
On girls-- my preference is always no underwear at all... I love undoing a girl's jeans or sliding a hand under her skirt and finding only warm flesh.... Very very sexy. If theywear underwear-- Silk thongs are acceptable... or cotton string bikinis, if they're very high-cut in legs and hips and show off a (pierced, I hope) belly button. On me... boxers feel good, of course. But the 3-pack boxers I buy at J.C. Penney's lack fly buttons, so there's the falling-out problem. Briefs may be more comfortable, but they're white, which means you have the male pee-stain problem. If button-fly boxers were cheaper, I'd stay in them.
One male problem-- t-shirts. I always wear a t-shirt under a shirt, but the sleeves have become longer. Long enough to show under a short- sleeve shirt (and in this state, it's 90 degrees for months at a time, so you wear short sleeves). I hate that! And I point-blank refuse to wear a 'wife-beater' undershirt.
Girls... A girl in shorts or khakis or jeans or a skirt without underwear is always best. It has that air of daring and wickedness...
-- Anonymous, August 21, 1999
As a man, I have to say that boxers are THE WAY TO GO. Briefs are tight and disgusting, and boxer-briefs (which i *have* tried, by the way), aren't very comfortable. They don't come far enough down the leg, so the legs are always rolling up to your groin; very annoying! On women, I have no preferences, but I love it when my girlfriend wears loose-fitting khakis over her black VS underwear. She looks hot!!!
-- Anonymous, November 20, 2000
Well, I have to say that for me, there is nothing better than just a pair of jeans. The big drawback is discretion, or the lack of, if you see a hottie. If I do need underwear, it is definitely silk boxers. I love freedom, and the briefs and tight boxers are horrible. As for falling out, never have figured that out.For my girl, she loves thongs, and what man can argue with that?
-- Anonymous, December 31, 2000
I love wearing tighty whities, their the best. They make me feel so SEXY. As for girls I like them wearing no undies at all. I'm 18.
-- Anonymous, February 10, 2001
Is it me, or had society dictated we must wear what others like... and not what we feel comfortable in? Personally I have no preference.. What ever is clean is by far ok with me. On a woman.... I don’t care... personally if I was forced to choose.. the bigger the better. It only adds to the mystery, what underneath the panties. But frankly, my sex life isn’t going to be much influenced (if any) but the type of underwear my lady wears. Who ever heard of paying $15 for panties.... let alone 2,3,or 4 times that much for designer lingerie. People could be spending that money for a romantic evening.... But nooooooo, panties the price of a car payment is what people want. Just pay the 8 bucks for like a 6 pack of Hanes at Wal- Mart.

I switched over from briefs to boxers about a year ago, and will never ever go back! I love wearing boxers, especially in the summer time, cause they are so much cooler, and you have so much more freedom. I have also tried boxer-briefs but I would have to agree that they always ride up to my crotch.

as far as underwear goes, I am a man, and I actually wear ladie's panties. I have been doing so for years. I love the different materials they are made with. And it is erotic for me also to wear them. I have never had any problem with any woman that I have dated. I have been dating someone for a little over a year now and she LOVES me to wear panties, in fact she would be upset at this point if I did not wear them. She says the juxtaposition of the masculine with the feminine makes the masculine stand out more (ask her!). If she didn't like it, I would still wear them. It's just "me". Many years ago I tried numerous times to "kick the habit" and felt guilty for wearing them, but I accept it more now.Gregory

i came here because i discovered yesterday that my best friend steph has, along with buzzing her head and starting a polyamorous relationship with a lesbian sanfransiscan, started wearing boy's underwear. it's a pretty stephish thing to do, so i wasn't that shocked, but i wouldn't have thought it was comfortable. isn't there a seam or something in an inconvienient and uncomfortable place? isn't it harder to stick hygene products to? i may have to buy a pack for myself and check this out, since the one lady who posted saying she wore boys undies recommended it also.as for me, i wear 'jockey for her' bikini cut, which i love. i still have some 'hanes her way' left over from the transition period, but i've discovered that even for the ones that have had the same wear- and-tear, the hanes are always in much worse shape than the jokey. this is annoying for me, though my not-really-a-boyfriend thinks it's cute when there are rips in my undies. it's always the bit between the side seam and the waist band that rips, so there's this panel flapping about. this makes it much harder to take them on and off, though, since pulling on the waistband as i do, they just rip more.
as for my opinion on my so's skivvies: briefs make my point and laugh. and laugh. and laugh some more.

As a guy, I prefer boy-cut panties (for women) to boxers or briefs. They are the most comfortable, and my girlfriend loves them. And... she threw out my other underwear. No hating, you guys should try it. The best part, for me, is buying them.On a girl, I prefer scantily dressed. My gf usually just gets naked when she comes home, and that's annoying. Takes all the mystery out of it, not to mention the fun of her stripping for me.
