Hi,

Seen yr travel pictures and must say that they are very impressive. My interest is somewhat similar

1. What camera system would you recommend for a starter interested in the following subjects:

A. Capturing people (eg: like those pictures found in those travel guides) B. Scenery & nature

2. I'm thinking of Nikon 70 as a starting camera. Is this fine or are there better brands/system ? 3. What lenses should I get for a start as I understand lenses are very expensive. 4. My budget for a start is at S$ 1,300- 1,500 and I'm intending on building my collection over time

You can get a very good system with $1500.
Actually the lens is more important than the body. According to your needs, I would recommend a zoom lens in the range of 28 - 105.

Nikon F70 is a not a bad camera with lots of built in functions. I have one. Initially, to change settings is not as straight forward but one needs to get used to it.

BTW, F70D includes panaromic view.

On lenses a 28-105 is good to have. You might want to get at least one prime lense.

At $1300 -1500, if you'd go for second hand, you can get a good body and a couple of good lenses.

You might consider the Canon EOS-50e and the 28-135mm USM IS lens. I use the EOS-50e, and its eye controlled focus and Depth of field preview are really useful. The IS (image stabilizer) in the 28-135 lens is really convenient when shooting at slow shutter speeds without a tripod or monopod. USM gives you real fast and silent autofocussing.

The 50e body costs somewhere around $780.
