Hi, Sysman. I've been reluctant to mention this before because I cannot tell if there is any y2k relationship (and am hoping there is not.) Over a week ago in our city an insulator exploded, causing an outage to 10,000 homes. It was explained away by fog.

An insulator explosion was most likely the result of fog, as stated, and was not y2k related. Usually there is another factor involved, such as a defect in the insulator, high wind, close proximity to tree, etc. which precipitates an arc-over, and possibly explosion.
