Because I have decided what my report will be be on, I need info badly. first i need to know what excatly y2K is, but my dad can explain that. my three main points will be computer related jobs, service jobs, and military and government. Any info about these will be most appreciated. If I am to quote you though I need your name cause I can't say Uncle Deedah says that ... I would get a lot of points deducted and that would be very very very bad.

Thanks for the reply - she's at school now (8th grade); I'll relay it to her at supper, then we'll come back here to work, let her answer directly - maybe 8:30 -9:00 EST.

Basically, her report is going to be on people (as she mentioned in the header), and how they expect their jobs to change after the troubles, or during the troubles next year as the case may be.

What else she works into the report - that's up to her. Background: It's a school thing - everybody has to write one paper a year on a science topic of their choice. She doesn't want to do another one on astrophysics or oceanology ('cause she did those for Girl Scouts and summer camp last year), so she picked Y2K.

Anyway, she has to have at least 3 references, and collectively, you guys are going to be one reference - I guess. Or a whole bunch of references. Or a slew of references. Or whatever - I don't count as a reference really.

We are all rookies here - it's just that I've been underwater longer without fresh air and a door than some of you other guys. Kind of makes you appreciate all the benefits of modern technology - and how unreliable it is if everything doesn't work right.

... Aren't any of us real veterans yet - this is the first time this century all of the computers get a chance to fail - all at the same time! Without even being told to. Wow - what a feeling. To do something nobody else has ever done - unless you figure that by the time the clock trips over here, the New Zealanders and Assie's will be saying "Oh Y2K? Old news, we did that a long time ago. What took you so long?"
