The International Civil Aviation Organization announced today that airline flights along heavily traveled Asia-Pacific routes will be cut by 66% starting New Year's eve. Significant delays and cancellations will result. In addition, 66% of revenue for all businesses associatedwith travel along the routes will be cut. Just finished updating Japanese infrastructure information today. I can only add a few each day (too busy). Next week I will have substantial insideinformation from telecom sector.

PNG -- Can you link us to their own public announcement of this? Hunting for something independent in vain. What is your estimate of the impact on Asia in terms of rate of impact over time (Jan, Feb, Mar 2000)? Are they projecting dates on which traffic will be increased back to "normal"?

Here's the only English link I know of BigDog. They said flights will be reduced to 1/3 of normal from Dec 31, 1999 to Jan 01, 2000. It's the first instance I've seen of an actual decision to reduce flights... It's 12:30 AM here and I need to be up in 4.5 hours. I'm GMT + 9...gotta go.
