Testing MD-E

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

I have the opportunity to purchase an MD-E motor drive. I put batteries in it and attached it to my FG, but it does not advance the film after I depress the shutter. How can I tell if I am doing something wrong or if the drive in need of repair?

Hi

I own one of those nice little winder, and it did not work right away when I was testing it at the store (bought used). To test: clean the contacts with a pen eraser, fine steel wool etc.... put in NEW batteries, close the lid, turn the switch to ON and use a nickel or a key (any peace of steel) to put in contact the two pin on top of the motor, you should see the motor turning and the red light glow Good luck
