More About PG&E & Y2K

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Just received in the mail a new publication from PG&E called "Prem1er" Volume 2 Edition 1. On page 7 "Timeline for Readiness" -- "Time line for readiness" Work teams will continue to remediate and test computer hardware applications, software systems, and embedded systems throughout the first half of the year. It is anticipated that million-crtical systems will be Year 2000 ready by the end of the third quarter of 1999. Also during the first half of 1999, all subsidiaries will develop contingency plans to prepare for potential Y2K problems, including failure on the part of a vendor or business partner to achieve Year 2000 compliance. "The Year 2000 project is one of the most important and challenging business issues being addressed by the Corporation," says Mike Rescoe, PG&E Corporation Senior Vice President, CFO and Treasurer. "Our subsidaries provide critical high-quality energy services and our owners expect us to deliver superior earnings. That's why we're dedicating the necessary resources to enable us to become Y2K ready. I'm vigilant every day that we say on the right track."

The whole jist of the newsletter though was focused on PG&E and Wall Street and how PG&E's plans to increase revenues and what their obligations are to stockholders.
