There used to be concrete phone booths on the C of Ga lines in Georgia.I failed to take pictures of them while they were around. Are there any left and if so where are they located.Thanks

There was a concrete phone booth at Roanoke Junction just north of Opelika, Alabama... I will look thru my photos to see if i may accidentally have one with that booth in it...

It has been a few months since last I saw them, but there were some of the same style along the GEORGIA ROAD main between Madison and Stone Mountain (I think near Lithonia). These must have been installed during the period when both CofG and GaRR were under joint control or at least Engineering design (IC era?).

There is a concrete phone booth at Leeds, just west of the last grade crossing past Anderson Electric. It is on the old Central track alignment. It's pretty grown up. Today was the first time I've seen it. Regards, Tom Holley

On a TVRM trip over the Chattooga & Chickamauga RR last Saturday, I noticed an old CofG phone booth at Rock Springs, GA which is between Chickamauga and Lafayette on the old Chattanooga District. It was in poor shape.

There's not only still a concrete phone booth in Milner, it's in an easy-to-photograph public park, to boot, right next to a Southern bay window caboose. What's more, there's a guy on a nearby street who has another CG phone booth mixed in with some junk in his back yard. Milner is apparently the promised land the phone booths went to after they died.

I think there is one of these phone booths left in Rome. It is in the middle of the siding at Krannert Jct., at least the last time I was there anyway. Todd

There used to be one where the track parallels the road just north of Marshallville - long since gone - but I took a photo of it around 1980. (Wish I had shot the semaphore block signals too!)

I believe that there is a concrete phone booth in Milner, along with a bay window caboose. I don't believe that this is an "original" location.

I'd like to extend the discussion to include postings of where these phone booths were originally found. I recall three concrete phone booth sites:

>at the east yard lead in Griffin (at the Goldman(?) spur) >about the middle of the siding at Dugdown on the Cedartown District >at the west end of the siding at Holland on the Chattanooga District
