"Blood in the Streets" and "The Great Reckoning" by James Dale Davidson and Lord William Rees-Mogg are two provocative and prophetic books analyzing world politico-economic events of the 1980's and early 1990's and stating their predictions (in a general sense, not stuff like "OralGate"). "The Great Reckoning" edition I have is 1994. Their analyses of, for example, the future of Russia (from their 1993/1994 viewpoint) has proved to be "right on".

However, they did not factor in Y2K into their further out predictions. Anyone know of anything later by those authors, factoring in Y2K? Anything they say is well worth paying attention to.

Davidson and Rees-Mogg authored a third book titled "The Sovereign Individual". Davidson also edits a monthly news letter (Strategic Investing), and Rees-Mogg is a regular contributor. The July(?) 1998 issue devoted some significant space to Y2K, but nothing that you probably don't know already. He also has held some pricey conferences on the subject of Y2K. I purchased a "Conference Summary" of one of these events, and I was ripped off. Every time the discussion got interesting, the mike was turned off. The only useful information gained was the idea that merely having your last financial statements was not enough - they should also be notarized.

One of the conference speakers was a past partner of GN, and the general impression was that GN had gotten a little too far out im front on this issue. But Davidson and his group take the issue very seriously, although I wish he would share his knowledge with his subscribers.

Thanks for the note -- I'd heard of "Sovereign..." but title didn't seem to have anything to do with Y2K. I myself no longer buy tapes of conferences. Like you say, they cut out the (potential) good stuff.

BTW, to me, it seems that the conference promoters selling tapes are too lazy/cheap to transcribe and edit coherently the proceedings into a written form.
