Who was (were) the owners of The San Francisco Clippers professional football team? This team preceded the 49'rs, played in a pacific coast league after WWII.

My father also played for this team in the early 1940's (1943-45, I believe). I would like to know as much as possible about this. Are there any memorabilia out there like sample programs with players names or photos of the team, etc.? Any help would be appreicated! Thank you. Marilyn Smith

The owner of the team was Frank Ciraolo. My father Dominic Sigillo played on the 1947 team. I have three programs: October 10, Clippers vs. the Hawaiian Warriors, November 9, Clippers vs. Los Angeles Bulldogs at Kezar Stadium, and November 27, Clippers vs. Los Angeles Bulldogs.MY father played on the 1943 Chicogo Bears Championship football team. I am starting to make contact with all the players on the roster, if they are still alive. My father died in 1957 at the age of 44. My Dad, Pat Frayne was general manager of the San Francisco Clippers Football team. Home field was Kezar. I was a college student in those days and some of my memory is faulty. I believe the star was Kenny Washington.There were a few players that played under assumed names because they were in the service and wanted to play college ball when the got out. In the San Francisco area is a fellow names Lloyd McGovern who has a warehouse full of football programs.

I have quite an archive of information relating to the team and all the players as well letters to and from Burt Bell (NFL Commishioner) and Mr. Morabito, regarding the promise of a franchise accross the bay. My uncle Bob Kurtz was a tackle on the Clippers. I believe 1945. I remember being in the locker room after a game at Kezar. I was 7 or 8. I remember seeing Kenny Washington. He was slight but had a muscular body. They played single wing of course and he could run, pass and kick.

I was told that my uncle was the heaviest player in the league at 255. Could be wrong.Would love to see some of the old programs. Maybe someone could scan some info or start a website on the old pro league.

I believe that included the LA Dons.

My father played for the clippers in 1944. I have an entire scrapbook from my dad covering his career. I have many clippers programs. If anyone would like some pictures, I could probably scan them and e-mail them to you.
