Y2K jobs available at Twin Cities post office!!greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread |
I got an interesting phone call today. I live in the Milwaukee area, but got a job offer in Minneapolis (350 miles away) working on a Y2K project for the USPS. They offered $40-$50/hour (peanuts, IMHO, especially at this stage), hotel accomodations, plane fare home every 3rd weekend, and other perks. Seems they needed about 50 people to meet their needs, and could only find about 20 locally.I told him I couldn't relocate, etc., but was able to get all of the above information from him. If anyone with some Y2K project experience is interested, look up Matt at the Maxim Group in the Twin Cities. I leave it to you to decide the validity of these statements, as well as their implications.

Hey! I live in the twin cities area! Will you train me on what to do and I'll split the pay with you?!?!?

Steve, Why not offer to tele-commute for $50/hr. They save accomodations, plane fare, etc. Maybe you go over once every other week for a day. They are probably desparate and will take it. They aren't going to come up with 50 people of any quality now.
