Are lefties smarter?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Lefties : One Thread

Are there any studies correlating lefties with intelligence or IQ? Very often the smartest people around me are left-handed. Is that just coincidence? Am I just prejudiced?

What's your experience?

My experience is that left handers tend to be more intelligent. I started reading at age 3 and have an I.Q. in excess of 160. I'm an attorney and I have seen what appears to be an inordinate number of left handed attorneys (at least in terms of the general population)

I am an airline pilot with an IQ of 152. My observation is that about 30% of the airline pilots are left handed while left handers make up about 13% of the populaton.

I once read that over 40% of the Astronauts ar eleft handed!

Yes not only is it mythical but absolutly obvious, that 'lefties' are more intelligant, the higher degree of left-handedness you have the more inteligant and creative you seem to be, or in a right handers world the more awkward you look. But I also think that left handers don't apply themselves when it comes to education and vocational employment, I think that may have something to do with infamous ADD.

I think they are smarter. They seem to be used to this right handed world so they have to do things with both hands. Some of my friends are smart as well
