Does anyone know how the Arriaga family is doing? El Elder Smith and I taught and baptized them in May or June of '79 in L'Hospitalet. I haven't kept touch with anyone since I left. They were a great family. He was a taxi driver if I remember correctly.

La familia Arriaga

I don't know much about them, but would certainly like to hear, too. I'm surprised they were baptized only in '79. I met them around December of 1980. Had the privilege of teaching a lady with Bro. Arriaga, and watching him baptize her. She was introduced to the gospel because he always left a folleto on the back seat of his cab. You found a great family! Were they a door contact?

I read somewhere several months ago that both of their children had served missions, but no details.

Yes, they were a door contact. We found them tracting late one night toward the end of my mission. They were the first and only full family I had the privilige of baptizing. It was great teaching a golden family the last few weeks of my mission.

The Arriagas are doing very well. Both their son and daughter served a mission in Madrid. Both of them are now married. The daughter married a young man from Switzerland, and the son married a girl from Denmark. The son and his family are now living in Denmark while the daughter and her family are living with the Arriagas in Hospitalet right now. Hermano Arriaga still drives Taxi and is as strong as ever. They are a great family and do so much for the work. They are so amazing. The last time that I saw them was August of 1997.

Los Arriaga were very fond of missionaries. They had me, Elder Conger and Elder Knudsen over for dinner every other week. They had the other pareja over the other week. They were very helpful: giving food, a taxi ride, and medicine to me, Tracy Conger, when I was sick. It would be nice if they could read some comments directed towards them, but I don't have their address. Too bad. I guess this was a "how are they doing" question, not how were they doing. I thought it would good to give a bit more personal information of how they were.

Los Arriaga have what we call ANIMO! I was never in their ward, however, we shared buildings with them and they always went out of their way to talk to me. They have a great spirit about them and were very strong in the Church

I love the familia Arriaga. I last saw them in May of 1997. When I had finished my mission, they had my whole family over to eat. They are always generous towards the missionaries and always help with teaching investigators. I will always remember the Arriaga family for all that they did for us while I served in L'Hospitalet.

Los Arriaga son buenissimo. Need to practice my spanish. !!!Son de orro, verdaderamente!!! I have fond memories of them. I remember joking with Hr. constantly. On time my trainer, Elder Dennis Cook and I were visiting (about Jan/Feb 1983) and he tried to tell me that my white skin was the color of death (I think), and that his darker skin was the color of life. My come back, pointing to my arm was, "no, este es el color de la vida eterna". (spelling??) I remember hermono Arriaga with a silent grin on his face while Elder Coor kept saying "!!Toma, toma, toma! Then next Sunday at church with his big grin, he pointed at his arm saying, "!Elder, este is el color de la vida eterna!" Of course, everybody in the family could and did hold their own. When I left, he was the bishop of Hospitalet. !!Viva Espana!!

Cuando estuve en L'Hospitalet en 1985 el Hermano Arriaga era obispo del Barrio de Hospitalet. Se que ambos de sus hijos servieron en la mision de Madrid. Pasabamos unos tiempos muy especiales y espirituales en la casa suya. La familia me dio mucho !ANIMO! Me imagino que ellos aun esten activos. El Church News publicaron un articulo acerca de la familia en 84' o 85'. Entonces enhorabuena a los que se los bautizaron. !Hasta luego!
