Savior,

During the last part of the Microsoft SQL Server 6.5 installation an error occured

Error: The service could not be started. Please check the error/event log to determine the cause.

Using the Event Viewer, the cause of the error is as follows:

The MSSQLServer service failed to start due to the following error: The system cannot find the path specified.

What path?

We want to uninstall the MSSQL Server 6.5 (Installation was not completed)

Jayson and Peter,

I'm not sure what it's looking for at the point at which it falls over but you might check for spaces or hyphens in the path you're installing to as SQL Server doesn't like them.

If you are attempting to upgrade an eval version you might also check the path referred to in the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CCS\Services\MSSQLServer\ImagePath.
