Archival Washer

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Printing & Finishing : One Thread

I'm a serious amateur photographer and do my own printing. I'm on a septic system in my home and need to conserve water as much as possible. I'd really like to have an archival washer, however the prices seem somewhat exhorbitant. Used washers are practically non-existent, at least as far as I've been able to determine. It seems to me that it shouldn't be too difficult to make a washer out of plexiglass if you're reasonably handy. Has anyone seen plans for making an archival washer?

Here is a website that sells a washer and discusses the issue of water conservation, which is important in lots of regions these days. I haven't bought one yet, I have an Oriental 11x14 and will do some tests with it. If it seems real wasteful, I will probably buy the one mentioned at the summitek page. If anyone has any experience with archival washers, please post them, thanks.
