I have read many of the posts concerning using the SSL. I too am having the same problem with the cart items getting lost when it goes into Secure mode.

I have read many of the treads that say that both the regular & secure must remain on the same server.

I contacted my ISP and they told me that it is the SAME SERVER but it uses a DIFFERENT PROTOCAL.

My question is this... Knowing this information how do I get the SSL to work?

Are you entering the full url of the secure server addy ? I had this prob too until I did that..like https://secureaddy.XXX/domain/whatever.html .. mine calls an HTML file like order.html .. best way is to double check with isp on this for exact syntax .. and make sure it is set in the cfg file for that. Hope this helps.

I too am having the same problem.

So what you are saying is the the $secureurl should be set to the full url to the secure server? Now do you mean that it should reference to S-Mart.cgi through the server:

https://www.foo.com/username/cgi-bin/S-Mart.cgi?

or should it end at the root?

https://www.foo.com/username/

Is there anything else that needs to be set other than $secureurl to make this function work? People keep refering to "enabling secure purchasing."

When I try and call a cgi through my secure it won't let me, because whats the point anyway, that wouldn't be really secure, or so I have been lead to believe. I looked in the S-Mart script and it generates the buy1 page based on the basepath, not the secureurl, so I am guessing that some editing (probably beyond my abilities) is required to enable secure purchasing. Am I wrong? What am I

I'm also having this problem with SSL. The standard server and the secure server are in two different areas, and the shopping cart is empty when going on the secure server (also executing exactly the same command on the standard server works fine).

My /tmp directory also exists on the secure server and shouldn't cause any problem.

It seems like this problem is affecting a lot of people now, and it would be great if someone could help us in this story...
