Continuity of unlinked electrical power systems.greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread |
We live on an island and our electricity is generated and transmitted to us (80,000 people) by a system which is not linked, in anyway, with any other electrical transmission systems, as is true for most of the mainland U.S. & Canada.1. Are we likely to enjoy more continuous service than mainland areas?
2. Can anyone recommend some questions to put to our local electrical utility officials, regarding their progress in becoming Y2K compliant in all of their local systems?
Your kind help would be much appreciated.

Dear Dr. Hadow, Go to Rick Cowles websitehttp://www.euy2k.com
the website is stictly about electric utilities. After you thoroughly read that site you'll know what questions to ask.
Where is your island? If you have plenty of fuel for the power plant in 12/99 you will be vastly better off than most americans. The only question then is how much can your power company store and when will it get it's next shipment?
