Old Titanic movies {Where can we see them?}greenspun.com : LUSENET : TitanicShack : One Thread |
Does anybody know if any of the old Titanic movies will be on tv soon or are they available only on video?

Hi Jennifer: You know, I look every week in the tv listings in the paper for exactly that although I have seen them 1000 times at least! The last one I saw had a repeated run on AMC probably about six months ago. That was the 1953 "Titanic" with Clifton Webb (the film that got me started on this subject a million years ago.). I have not seen ANTR for years on tv and wish it would reappear. You would think it would be prudent for these networks to air them but I suppose it all has to do with "rights", etc. As they say: Check your local listings!Regards, Peter

I don't know, but they would probably be at the video rental near you.

I was at a Suncoast video store this evening. They had both the 1953 version of Titanic with Clifton Webb and Barbara Stanwyck (another fictional story set on the ship, but nothing like Cameron's epic), and the 1958 British B&W version of Walter Lord's "A Night to Remember." I bought a copy of ANTR last week at my local Wal Mart for $6.95 US.Cheers!
