The latest generation of Zone VI Brilliant Bromidegreenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Printing & Finishing : One Thread |
Has anyone had recent experience with the latest Brilliant Bromide Graded Fiber papers from Calumet? How has the paper worked for you? What are some general characteristics? Is it as good as the "old" or "original" Brilliant Bromide?I am looking for a paper to replace Oriental Seagull. Any paper on the market today that rivals the good old Oriental Seagull paper?
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
Steve.

I do not have any experience with the new Zone VI graded paper but in response to your question about a paper to replace the Oriental Seagull, Bruce Barnbaum seems to like the Forte papers as a good replacement. I have used the Forte paper alittle and it is a nice paper, my personal preference is for the AGFA Classic paper but it is nothing like the Oriental, the AGFA is a much warmer paper.

I either do not have any experience with the new Zone VI graded paper - because it is not available in Germany - but in response to your question about a paper to replace the Oriental Seagull - I prefer Maco Expo G a cold tone, premium weight (300g/m2) paper with goldchlorid! in the fiberbase, to increase archival stability. But I have to say, that I do not know, if that paper is available in the USA. Sascha Milkereit

Steve; I have not used the Brilliant graded papers, but I have been printing on Brilliant VC-II FB for the past year or so. I can't really tell that it's any different from Ilford MG IV Fb....same print times, same contrast, developes the same, and it's made in England. Duh. So far the paper has been consistent in quality from box to box -- I've been through about 20 boxes of 11x15 50/shts. I have been processing it in Ilford's MG dev.Frank
