Enlarger meter aka Lightmeter

I am getting a lightmeter and chance upon a device that allows the meter to be converted for enlarging use. So far I have only seen the Minolta make having this feature, what I would like to know is how does this work and whether other makes offer this facility.

Btw which lightmeter do you online recommend?? : )

Kenneth: There are several meters that are for, or can be converted for use with an enlarger. If the Minolta you are looking into Comes with an enlarger attachment, ok. But I would hesitate to recommend a lightmeter for this purpose. You would likely find it is more trouble than it is worth. The main advantage is for when you change your amount of enlargement (move the enlarger up or down), and some people feel it makes determining the subsequent settings easier (f-stop and/or time). It can tend to become a `crutch'; by a little experience (and perhaps using a small test paper, perhaps 3"x3") you can quickly obtain the desired result. Another concern in using the lightmeter, is that you have to determine what area (light/dark, etc.) that you will meter. If you still decide to meter, the Ilford M3 enlarging meter (or equivalent) is available, probably for less than an attachment. Mike
