My favorite character was Rose. I think she's got guts. I mean, Jack died and she has the courage to go on. She was also very beautiful. I think most people would say Leo, but....

I think ALL the acting is superb in the movie, but after seeing it four times, I've decided some of the best acting was done by the actors who played the ship's officers. Watching the officers try to remain professional while falling apart by degrees just blows me away!

I have to agree with Laura. I cannot pick a favorite character, I love all of them for different reasons. But I think Molly Brown (Kathy Bates) was a breath of fresh air!!! She made me laugh and I thought some of her comments were just precious!

Definitely Rose. I think one of the most powerful aspects of Kate Winslet's acting is her ability to go beyond the scripted words and actions. She has become Rose, and her facial expressions and involvement in the role always astound me. For example, the realization that Jack was dead swept over her face even before the audience had fully comprehended his death. In her bedroom, I love how the disdain, anger, and frustration is so real in her face, when she attacks her mother, "How could I forget? You remind me every day."

Best actor, Kate Winslet Favorite Character, Jack Dawson The actor who played Rose's mom did a fabulous job too. The look on her face when Rose spit was tooooo funny!

1)I liked Rose, both the young (Kate Winslet) and old (Gloria Stuart).

2) I thought that Victor Garber did a fantastic job for such a relatively small role. His final scene in the smoking room was just incredible.

(1). Jack

(2). Hands down Leonardo did the finest acting in the entire film. There was such a free-spirited attitude in every line he spoke, which was exactly how Cameron wanted him to play the part. There is no question that his performance was the best.

Most people will probably disagree with me, but Billy Zane did a very good job of taking a character and making him detestable byt the end of the movie. People in the audience really hated him, which is what was supposed to happen.

Misty- You are totally right! I HATED Cal, but since you were supposed to, it shows how well Billy Zane played him! All he needed to be the quintessential villain was a long thin mustache to twirl as he went, "Nyah hah hah"!!

I think Thomas Andrews did such a wonderful job... goes with the saying there are no small parts just small actors... He was superb. His accent was amazing. I felt so sorry for him. his was the saddest character of all.

1. Jack Dawson. I love his knack for the understatement: "This is nice.", "This could be bad.", etc. And his absolute love for Rose that wins out over everything else, even his own chances to live.

2. Victor Garber, no questions asked. He made his small role into one that people will never forget. He didn't just sit back and say, "Oh, it's just a small part, so I don't have to worry about it." It appeared to me that he put as much effort into "becoming" Thomas Andrews, as he would have into a much larger role. BTW, does anyone know how to get more information on him, or where to write to him at?

I can't go past Leo for the best acting in the film but I really felt drawn to the Irish Tommy who ended up being shot. His line that went something like "You may as well have angels fly out of your arse, as get close to her, boyo" was great.

-- Jennifer Reynolds (jennifer.reynolds@deetya.gov.au), February 04, 1998.

When I came out of the theatre I was so mad at Cal that I thought if I ever came face to face Billy Zane I would spit in his face and slap him. And I know it was just acting, so that's how well he played his part

The best character in the movie was definitely Rose. Beautiful on the inside and out. Best acting, however, has got to go to Billy Zane who played Cal.He was just AMAZING.He portrayed his character so well that even I,a LOYAL fan, hated him throughout the movie.BRILLIANT.I'm so upset that he didn't get a "best-supporting actor" nomination.

I have to say my favorite character was Victor Garber. He touched me in a way no other actor ever could. He did an excellent job playing Thomas Andrews and really brought the character to life. I cried most for him because it was just so sad to see such a nice caring man die like that.

I have to say that all the actors and actresses to there parts seriously. They all did a wondeful job and really brought each character to life.

I think that Victor Garber did a fantastic job with his role as Thomas Andrews. The part should have been larger. I would have enjoyed the film more if it had been larger. The part where he adjusts the time on the clock as the ship goes down is just heart rending. That is the only part at which I cried. You can just feel his pain. The actor who played Andrews in "A Night to Remember" put no feeling into the part at all.
