I am doing research about Woodward's Garden (the resort, not the restaurant) Does anyone know where I can find old photos or personal accounts or old brochures about the place? Thank you.

Woodward's Gardens was extensively photographed by Eadweard Muybridge in the 1870s. The most extensive collection of these photos I've seen is at the Bancroft Library at UC Berkeley.

Karen: I was in the California State Library yesterday, looking up something in "Lights and Shades of San Francisco." (The author's name escapes me at the moment; it was published in the 1870s.) It had a whole section about Wardwood's Garden, as well as a full page etching. (It caught my eye because I remembered reading your question!)

Here is a photo of the grave and monument to Robert B. Woodward in Laurel Hill Cemetery taken March 3, 1929. He was born Jany. 26th 1824 and died Aug. 22nd 1879. He was the owner of old Woodward's Gardens at 14th & Mission Sts:
